HANS HARTUNG
The German-French painter and graphic artist Hans Hartung is one of the most important represenatives of Non-Objective Art. As a leading member of the Ecole de Paris he pioneered Abstract Expressionism in Europe.

There is hardly any honour not done to Hans Hartung. He was present at the Kassel documenta in 55, 59 and 64 and at the Venice Biennale, where he received the Grand Award for Painting in 1960. Furthermore he was given the Rubens Award of the City of Siegen in 1958, the membership at the Art Academies of Berlin and Munich, the Oskar Kokoschka Award of the Republic of Austria, the Knightage of the Foreign Legion, the decoration Pour le Merite, the Große Bundesverdienstkreuz, etc. | ||||||
