Current Exhibition: HANS HARTUNG Paintings and Graphics (until 30.06.2006)

In 1904 Hans Hartung was born into a family to which art and music were familiar. As a youngster he already exercised himself in Non-Objective Art and Graphics.

From 1924 he studied philosophy and art history at the University of Leipzig, later fine arts at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and the Munich Art Academy. His cometlike advancement as an artist began in 1946/47. One year later he already was an internationally reknown person.

As one of the most important representatives of Abstract Art his works are exhibited in the best reputed museums worldwide. Hartung abided by his style of art his whole life.
